AJ DOES DOHA 28-29th April 2012

Morning of the 28th April I set out to Heathrow Airport leaving London behind me.  Checked in with Qatar airlines (probably the best customer service ever experienced) and had breakfast before reading my good luck texts and making those last minute calls to say good bye.

I boarded the plane (again spacious with more legroom than your usual airline) and began the countdown to Doha.

Drinks and something that looked like chevro (bombay mix) was served whilst I waited for lunch (though eating on flights always bloat me....yes poor me...but Mena understands, don't you?).

I was sitting next to a local man from Doha. A very polite man who when we landed offered his business card and said if he and his family can help then he'd be very happy (the hospitality was good so far!).

Lunch arrived (sorry no photo's Rash) but I had mustard chicken with mash and spinach with chick peas - nice and tasty and then chocolate-esqu crumble, again nice but too sweet.

A season of the comedy New Girl (which is funnier than I thought) and Glee (yes, yes...) we were served another snack.  They call is posh pizza roll, basically a wrap with a pizza filling (filled with calories basically) so took a bite and left the rest.

I looked out of the window and saw the hazy sky and the bright lights as we literally flew through the city - you could see all the sky scrapers and then we landed very smoothly. I had arrived in Doha!

Through immigration, I collected my luggage and was greeted by my chauffer who drove me in a limousine to my hotel (staying at the W doha in case you want to know where I am).

I arrived and was taken up to my room.  This is where I am staying:

And yes, i have a lovely swimming pool too!

I was so tired that I ordered room service and then went to bed....my first evening in that massive bed!

29th April: Today I woke up to bright lights and the warmth of the sun (I hear it's still cold, wet, and not nice over there....haha...not here it's not!).

I woke up, had breakfast (again room service...eggs with smoked salmon, too salty though and some fresh orange juice).  Things here are so expensive....can you imagine paying £12 for scrambled eggs!!

Showered and ready, I decided to unpack and the explore, well at least to work out where my office was and the surroundings.  I will be based in the Katara cultural village, which looks quite impressive.  They have a gold shimmering mosque, a massive ampitheatre made from marble...and wait for it...a Red Velvet Cupcakery.  Take a look at my snaps:

And then I went to the mall to do some grocery shopping at Carrefour and bought myself some fruits and food for the week.  Things are so expensive here....6 eggs cost around £3.50!!

So my evening will be spent writing this and then just a movie before bed.....will keep you posted!
